Privacy and user control are part of the product boundary.

1. Scope and current status

This policy describes how Genesis, an early-stage decision-assistance application operated by its founder, Miguel Cortes, handles personal information and how its proposed Yahoo Mail connection would operate.

Current status: Genesis does not currently access Yahoo mailbox data. Yahoo access will remain disabled unless Yahoo approves the application and the user separately authorizes the connection.

2. Information Genesis may process

When a user deliberately supplies information or authorizes a supported connection, Genesis may process:

• account identifiers needed to connect and distinguish the user’s account;
• authorization tokens issued by the provider, never the user’s Yahoo password;
• mail metadata and message content that the authorized user chooses to retrieve or use;
• files or attachments the user deliberately selects; and
• the user’s instructions, edits, approvals and resulting reviewable drafts.

3. How Yahoo Mail data would be used

After provider approval and explicit user authorization, Genesis would use narrowly scoped Yahoo Mail access to provide functionality directly to that user. Uses may include retrieving and synchronizing authorized messages and mailbox state for reading, accessibility and user-requested organization, and preparing editable summaries, decision briefs, calendar proposals, source notes and reply drafts.

Genesis may send a new message or reply through the connected Yahoo account only after the user reviews and explicitly approves that specific message. Genesis does not autonomously send Yahoo Mail.

4. Consent, control and revocation

Genesis will disclose the requested access and intended use before connection. The user may decline authorization, disconnect Yahoo from Genesis, or revoke Genesis in Yahoo’s account controls. Revocation stops new retrieval after the provider processes it.

Genesis requires a separate user review before any proposed external action. Mailbox authorization alone is not approval to send a message, create an event, contact another person or perform another external act.

5. Data use restrictions

Genesis will not sell Yahoo-derived data. It will not use Yahoo-derived data for advertising, audience creation, behavioral profiling, monetization unrelated to the user-facing service, or email engagement tracking.

Yahoo-derived message content will not be disclosed to outside AI providers or unrelated third parties. If a future feature would require a materially different use or disclosure, it will not be enabled until the policy, user notice, consent flow and provider approval have been updated as required.

6. Storage, security and retention

Before Yahoo access is enabled, Genesis’s production connection will be required to use encrypted transport, protected server-side token custody, least-privilege access controls, separation of provider credentials from application content, logging appropriate to security and revocation, and procedures for responding to suspected unauthorized access.

Genesis will retain connected data only for as long as needed to provide the user-requested function, satisfy legitimate security and compliance needs, or meet applicable law. Users may request deletion of retained account data and generated materials, subject to limited legal or security retention obligations.

7. Service providers and legal requirements

Genesis may use infrastructure providers acting under instructions to host and secure the service. They may process only the minimum information needed to perform those functions and may not use it for their own advertising or unrelated purposes.

Information may be preserved or disclosed when required by applicable law, valid legal process, or a necessary security response. Genesis does not voluntarily provide private mail content for unrelated commercial use.

8. Privacy rights

Depending on location, a user may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, or to object to or withdraw consent from certain processing. Genesis does not sell personal information. Requests will be assessed and answered consistent with applicable law.

9. Children

Genesis is not directed to children under 13, and the Yahoo Mail integration is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as Genesis moves from pre-beta toward release or when provider requirements change. Material changes affecting connected-account data will be disclosed before the changed processing begins when required.
